Stella McCartney’s barely-there lingerie
Stella McCartney goes minimal on affordable everyday collection entitled “Stella”. No, that doesn’t mean McCartney has skimped on the materials or the quality. Instead, the British-born designer has streamlined the range to produce the “lightest and most invisible” offering on the market. Clearly all that technical Olympic talk from creating a collection with Adidas for the GB Olympic team is still on McCartney’s mind.
That said, the 40-year-old’s latest line is more sexy than sporty. The collection, comprised of five bra shapes (Strapless, Moulded Underwire, Plunge, Balconnet and the completely wireless Supernatural), is made from 8mm as opposed to the industry standard 12mm foam for a lighter fit. Both the bra and briefs are available in three “stories”– smooth, lace and mesh – and will retail for between £40-£45 and £19-£22, respectively.
Not as pricey as her mainline apparel, the “Stella” lingerie still embodies the designer’s eco-conscious ethos: an Olympic-style three ring detailing is made from recycled hardware and all gussets are cut from organic cotton. So, if you’re not quite ready to go commando but you like the sound of an almost “naked fit”, check out the collection when it goes on sale at selected retailers and online at stellamccartney.com from August.
