Sporting luxury
“Luxury sportswear has become a key market with shoppers looking for that premium luxury element whether it be sport, holiday or work,” says My Wardrobe’s Buying Manager Eleanor Robinson. Over recent seasons, sportswear has proved to be something of a social climber. Once shunned for being at the nadir of the fashion spectrum, its silhouettes have become sleeker and more feminine. In the words of Robinson,“Even actual sportswear has a more loungewear appeal.” Leading the charge are labels and designers such as 3.1 Phillip Lim, Alexander Wang, Stella McCartney and Versus, all bringing a previously unseen elegance to the trend.
